BACHELOR OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (BPA) AND
MASTER OF PUBLIC ADMINISTATION (MPA) SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
SUMMER 2021, FALL 2021 & SPRING 2022 SEMESTERS
(At least six $1,000 Scholarships will be offered)
Applications are now being accepted for Scholarships in the Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelor’s in Public Administration (BPA) Programs. The Scholarships will be awarded through the Political Science Department and the William P. Hobby Center for Public Service. Scholarships include the William P. Hobby, Frank Rich and Howard & Marilyn Balanoff Family Scholarships. Each of the Scholarships offered will provide a $1,000 reduction to tuition for at least 6 current public administration (MPA & PBA) students for the SUMMER 2021, FALL 2021 or Spring 2022 Semesters. The recipients of the public administration scholarships will be announced no later than February 28, 2021.
Scholarship Award recipients will be honored and recognized at the annual Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) Banquet which will be conducted by the Centex Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) which is scheduled to be held on sometime during the month of May 2021.
The major criteria for MPA scholarships will be financial need & academic achievement. To qualify for an MPA Scholarship at least 6 hours of coursework toward the MPA degree must have been completed. In addition, in order to receive an MPA scholarship in the Summer 2021, Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 semesters, the student must be enrolled in at least 6 or more hours of academic coursework in the semester in which they receive their scholarship.
The major criteria for BPA scholarships will be financial need & academic achievement.
To qualify for a BPA Scholarship a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with at least 6 hours of completed BPA coursework at Texas State University. In addition, in order to receive the scholarship in the Summer 2021, Fall 2021, or Spring 2022 semesters the student must be enrolled in at least 9 or more hours of coursework with at least 3 hours of BPA coursework for the semester in which they receive their scholarship.
Finalists for the Public Administration Scholarships may be asked to attend an interview with the Public Administration Program Scholarship and Awards Selection Committee.
If you are interested in applying for either an MPA or a BPA scholarship you will need to compose a letter (not to exceed 2 pages) outlining financial need, academic achievement, your reasons for pursuing a MPA or BPA degree and any other relevant information. In order to be considered for a Scholarship your information needs to be received no later than Midnight February 28, 2021.

Once the letters have been received, the Scholarship Selection Committee which is currently made up of the Scholarship Committee Chair and other selected public administration faculty will review the files of the applicants and make its final recommendation no later than March 30, 2021.
